EVER WONDERED WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE A FIREFIGHTER?

The annual Citizens Fire Academy is designed to educate and inform residents about fire department operations and services, fostering a more informed and safety-conscious citizenry.
Participants will be provided with personal protective clothing and perform hose line operations, search for victims, place ground ladders, cut apart a car with the Jaws of Life, force entry, and extinguish a live fire.
This 6-week program is a great opportunity for anyone who may potentially be interested in volunteering to see if joining the Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department is a good fit for you.
The program is open to all Upper St. Clair Residents and Business Owners at least 18 years of age.

Week 1 – Thursday, September 25, 2025 Introduction to the Fire Service / Personal Protective Equipment
Week 2 – Thursday, October 2, 2025 Engine Company Operations (Hose Lines, Hose Streams & water Supply)
Week 3 – Thursday, October 9, 2025 Truck Company Operations (Forcible Entry, Search, Ground Ladders, Aerial ladder)
Week 4 – Thursday, October 16, 2025 Vehicle Stabilization & Extrication / Drone Operations
Week 5 – Thursday, October 23, 2025 Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus & Live Burn Prep
Week 6 – Thursday, October 30, 2025 Live Burn
